Final matchday, and probably decisive
The last round of Group A matches kicks off simultaneously, which is the point of scheduling them that way: neither side can play knowing what the other result is. Oman and Palestine meet at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh while Saudi Arabia and Kuwait play in Jeddah.
Both of these teams have exactly one knockout appearance in their history, and both got it recently: Oman in 2019, Palestine in 2023. That symmetry is unusual in a group containing a three-time champion, and it makes this the match where Group A most likely settles who joins the hosts in the last sixteen.
It is also the kind of fixture where the third-placed permutations start to matter. A team finishing third here can still reach the round of 16, but only by comparing points, goal difference and goals scored against the third-placed sides in the other five groups, which is a poor way to spend a Sunday evening.
