Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah takes the other final Group E match, played simultaneously with South Korea against the United Arab Emirates in Riyadh. Vietnam and Yemen will not know that score while they play.

Neither has a strong claim on the knockout stage by history. Yemen have not got out of a group in two previous appearances. Vietnam have six appearances in total, and the fourth-place finishes on their name were achieved by South Vietnam in 1956 and 1960.

What both have is the third-placed route: four of the six third-placed teams reach the round of 16, ranked on points, then goal difference, then goals scored across all six groups. For sides with records this thin, that is not a bad thing to still be playing for on the final day.

The two records

This is a sixth Asian Cup for Vietnam, whose best finish is fourth place (1956, 1960), against a third for Yemen, best group stage (1976, 2019). The Vietnam finish was both as South Vietnam. The Yemen finish was as South Yemen.
