Two tournaments, no points
Yemen have played at two Asian Cups and lost every match. South Yemen, a separate state at the time, played the 1976 tournament; the 2019 campaign, by the unified country, ended in the group stage as well.
A third appearance therefore comes with an unusual target: not a knockout place but a first point, and a first goal. They qualified as third-round group winners in June 2026, the last of the twenty-four teams to book a place. The draw did them no favours. South Korea and the United Arab Emirates have played seven finals between them.
