One good week in 2004

Bahrain finished fourth in 2004, and that remains the outlier in an otherwise modest Asian Cup record. This is an eighth appearance since a first in 1988.

They qualified as second-round runners-up behind the United Arab Emirates. In Group B they meet Uzbekistan, North Korea and Jordan, which on recent form is the most evenly matched of the six groups: no side in it has ever won the tournament, and three of the four have reached at least the semi-finals.

How Bahrain qualified

Bahrain came through as second round Group H runners-up, confirmed on 6 June 2024.
